Hybrid Drive Systems
Course Details
Hybrid vehicles use the most complex technology available because they combine an internal combustion engine with a high-voltage electric system for vehicle mobility. There are different combinations and degrees of electrification integration, and consequently, the high-voltage electrical components installed may vary. The electrification of vehicles equipped with internal combustion engines significantly reduces consumption and pollutant gas emissions and, due to the strict Euro standards, manufacturers are obliged to electrify their entire range of vehicles in order to comply with the regulations. For this reason, the proportion of hybrid vehicles, whether they are passenger cars, city buses or trucks, is increasing.
The main aims of this course are:
- To know the history of hybrid vehicles.
- To identify the different types of hybrid and electric vehicles.
- To distinguish between internal combustion engines.
- To identify and analyse the components of the hybrid drive system.
- To know about European regulations on hybrid vehicles.
- To distinguish between the different architectures used in a hybrid vehicle.
- To act on a hybrid vehicle after it has been involved in an accident.
- To disconnect the high-voltage power in a hybrid vehicle.
